Photographing weddings is always a highlight of my year – photographing a couple you felt an instant connection with? Now that makes it even more special. Katie and Brooks’s wedding was the perfect end to our wedding season this year. Their wedding took place at one of our all-time favorite locations, Moose Creek Ranch, a venue that is very near and dear to our hearts as photographers.

Now Katie and Brooks’s wedding week started with a slight hiccup as our wonderful groom ended up in a bike accident just days before the big day. But nothing stopped these two – with their families beside them, they made the best of the situation. Some bruising and scraps are featured throughout the day – but it never detracted from these beautiful moments, in all honesty, it added to them. It was a testament to the endurance, love, and beauty that Katie and Brooks hold for each other through the worst and best of times.

Justin and I spent some of our drive home reflecting on the moments of the day we had just photographed. We discussed the beauty of the words spoken during their ceremony, the calmness that was felt throughout the day with Katie and Brooks, and the absolute joy that shined through their faces that day. My favorite part was the one-on-one moments with this incredible couple. The quiet moments that happened before the ceremony and later that evening. I always love being able to take our couples away and let them not only have those moments together but document them as well. Justin was also a big fan of these moments – mainly for his one-on-one time with Brooks to talk all things soccer, biking, and outdoors. 3

Every time I photograph a couple on their wedding day, I walk away feeling as if I added more to my community, to my little family. This day was no different – Katie and Brooks are two incredible people and we felt so honored to document this season of life for them. Cheers to Katie and Brooks and cheers to us now wanting to plan vacations with them to go watch soccer games together.
