I started asking my family clients, “What will you miss about this season of life that you are currently in?” Asking that one simple question has changed the way that I started photographing families. The standard group photo will always happen though it stopped being the number one focus – instead, I focused on documenting their season of life. Playing with your babies, throwing sticks, doing somersaults in the grass. It is all about documenting what the reality of your life is, the beauty of this season.
I met Hannah and Will years ago when I photographed their wedding – now 5 years later, they trusted me to document their continuing life story with their two sweet little babes in tow. We laughed over these little moments of crossing a flooded plain to get to our location (something similar happened on their wedding day) and the wildness of their sweet daughter. While the light might have changed three times that night (giving us a beautiful variation of colors), the smiles and laughter never stopped.
